the CHUM is currently the largest construction project in north america and the largest single phase health care project in the world. the project entailed a 12 month design and delivery competition, a technical close phase and the current design/build phase. two city blocks, eighteen stories high, two billion dollar hospital for downtown montreal. the CHUM is a regional hospital with international teaching and research networks. it is placed on the corner of two important streets in montreal, st. denis and rene levesque, and connects the plateau area with old montreal. it will become the centre of montreal quartier de santé. composed of five interconnected building on a two block site, create integrated but identifiable spaces for hospital, clinical office, teaching and logistic components of the project. the building creates a large public plaza on ave st denis, creating a fulcrum for the chum system and an iconic architectural identity.
role: design principal, project leadership team, primary liason with media, hospital executives, and senior government, leading a team of twenty designers and teams in various offices across north america.
